Internet of Things expert Jill Klein coined the phrase, “Derived Insight Response Time” as a measure of latency or how long you have to wait to derive analytic insights from IoT data. If the derived insight response time for your particular application is measured in milliseconds, then sending telemetry data to the cloud may be out of the question and an edge solution might be required. Remember folks, the Internet does not come with an SLA.
